The proportion of international personnel grew

In 2017, the average number of personnel working at the University of Tampere was 2,147. The share of teaching and research personnel grew to 61 per cent in terms of overall person-years, which totalled 1,970. Of the personnel, 52 per cent had fixed-term employment contracts. In 2017, the University further strengthened practices that support the increase of international recruitment and mobility. As a result of these measures, the number of international staff has increased by about 40 per cent since 2010. In 2017, the University employed 200 international workers, and at the end of the year, foreign nationals made up 9 per cent of the staff. Some 13 per cent of teaching and research staff were foreign nationals.
