The financial result for 2017 was quite good: the end of year financial result was EUR 6 million. The University received EUR 108.6 million in core government funding and another EUR 1.1 million due to a temporary increase in the number of entrant places. Revenue from external funding grew by nearly 6 per cent from 2016, with total external funding totalling EUR 71.3 million; the funding granted by the Academy of Finland increased the most. Investments yielded EUR 5.7 million and fund-raising accrued EUR 1.2 million in donations. The University’s operating costs were EUR 180.7 million. The balance sheet total of the University was EUR 197.2 million, showing an 81 per cent solvency ratio.
