External research funding increased in 2016

The financial result for 2016 was EUR 1.7 million. The revenue from external research funding grew significantly compared to 2015, which means that research activities developed favourably. However, the overall financial result decreased from 2015 because of cuts in the government’s core funding. External funding amounted to EUR 67.5 million, an increase of 12 per cent, and the government’s core funding was EUR 110 million, which was 6 per cent less than in 2015. The total surplus for the 2010–2016 period was EUR 37.9 million, and the University’s balance sheet total was EUR 178.7 million.
