New Social Research programme brings together the social sciences

Research on society and health are the University of Tampere’s areas of strength. The University set up the New Social Research (NSR) programme in order to create new tools to meet the acute social problems in our increasingly complex world. The NSR is an umbrella for social scientific research conducted at the University’s faculties and units, and it strengthens the position of the University of Tampere as a national hub for social research. In 2016, key areas of medical research included atherosclerosis, prostate cancer, coeliac disease and vaccines.
